Juventus Militari trundled out to the pitch in a 3-5-2 formation. The visitors, Grilled Birds, chose to start the game with a 2-5-3 lineup. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (+8) (28) ability to attack in the middle today. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle instead. After 11 minutes, Grilled's
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. After 15 minutes, Grilled's
Lim An Keng burst through the central defense and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2. Juve's
Zeus Carmelia soared above the crowd, but couldn't knock home the corner 26 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 was the halftime score. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 60 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
With the clock showing 46 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Chan Ze Han looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Joe Reece, though he would have liked to continue. With
Chan Ze Han no longer on the field,
Aw Keng Chuan was the new set pieces taker.
Joe Reece saw that the keeper was out and shot from an incredible distance 55 minutes in. Unfortunately for Grilled, the ball skimmed the crossbar and went over. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. The visitors'
Lim An Keng took advantage of a mix-up between the home side's goalie and center backs 71 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for Grilled. Grilled came close to extending their lead as
Lim An Keng delivered a low effort on goal from the right but the angle was too sharp, and the shot was destined for the side netting. Juve reduced the lead to 1 - 3 after 75 minutes when
Giacomo Guala got the best of a lazy ball floated in from the left side. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot from the right by
Gandhik Chitre beat the keeper with 77 minutes played, preventing Grilled from going up another goal. As the 85 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy reluctantly made way for
Paulino Trindade. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 2 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 1 - 3. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 61 percent possession in this half was spot on!
Alexandru Anghel performed admirably for Juve. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Adolfo da Fonseca sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. Most important Grilled player was
Lim An Keng. Good thing
Dimitris Germanakos isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
