Grilled 6 - 3 mottensen

Dark skies made the crowd at the stadium today a little nervous, but the rain held off. The following players had been selected: Germanakos - Keng Chuan, 其材 (Qicai) - Reddy, Thach, Kwang Tse, Khairul, Teck Fu - Chitre, Ze Han, An Keng.

The following players took the field: Waheed - Nami, Ziep - Preckur, Fagnon, Hurd, Eitzen, Corvaglia - Gálvez, Quino, Våg.

The coaches were in sync today, as both teams lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. After 10 minutes cheers broke out as Gandhik Chitre found his way through the guests' central defensive line, rattling the 1 - 0 goal in off the woodwork for Grilled. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Grilled's Mohd Marzuki Khairul finally got himself booked for a foul. Was it the hair gel? Was it a gift from the gods? Either way, the faithful won't care. Soaring like a Saturn V, Sabio Corvaglia somehow got his head on a Ümit Nami moonshot from the corner and buried it in the back of the net. What grace! What power! Plant the flag for mottensen, Neil Armstrong! The score is now 1 - 1. Gandhik Chitre gave Grilled the 2 - 1 lead, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball at the keeper's right post – what a clinical finish! The crowd was silenced 24 minutes into the match as the visiting team's Julio Gálvez came in from the left, tying the game up at 2 - 2. Sabio Corvaglia was doing a great job on the wing, sending in a brilliant pass to his teammates in the middle, but Christoph Eitzen seemed unable to profit from this excellent service. The visitors' central defense should have had no trouble clearing the pass to Chad Thach, but the Grilled player managed to shrug them off and fire a low shot that 5-holed the keeper to give his team the lead. 3 - 2! Halftime score was 3 - 2. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses and a Twisted Metal F.C. tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. With the clock showing 46 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Chan Ze Han looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Joe Reece, though he would have liked to continue. As Chan Ze Han left the field, the coach signaled to Aw Keng Chuan to be the new set pieces taker. After 57 minutes, Joe Reece put Grilled ahead 4 - 2 when he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. Oh dear, Brian 'Was Born' Reddy was so close to scoring an own goal when he threw out his foot at just the wrong time, but the ball hit the post. The clock read 60 minutes and things were deteriorating for the away team as Grilled scored another to make it 5 - 2 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for Hwang Teck Fu. 61 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as Joe Reece ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 6 - 2 for Grilled. As the 71 minute mark approached, the mottensen manager decided it was time for a substitution. Rainer Preckur reluctantly made way for Adrian Hülsen. mottensen never say die, and though it wasn't a pretty goal, Adrian Hülsen offered the visiting fans a glimmer of hope after 72 minutes. That makes it 6 - 3. 81 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a mottensen substitution. Kamil Nazmeev came on for Mohamed Waheed. As mottensen's captain went off, he handed the armband to Joe Hurd. 82 minutes into the game, mottensen wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Joe Hurd gave Ulf Monsheim a quick hug as he left the field. Fred Fagnon became the new mottensen captain. After 85 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Brian 'Was Born' Reddy off. Paulino Trindade took his place. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 3 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 6 - 3. Let's go to the Twittersphere to see what the fans think of the game so far! says The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt Lim An Keng. Good thing Dimitris Germanakos isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. mottensen's top performer was clearly Fred Fagnon. I can't remember Ulf Monsheim ever having a worse night than he just had.
