The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Crow Castle, went for a 3-5-2, while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. Oh dear - the keeper's made a mess of that one. The crowd was very disappointed after he let
Gústav Thoroddsen get the go-ahead goal with a speculative shot from the right after 14 minutes. 0 - 1.
Lim An Keng came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but his attempted chip over
Domenico Tracchi just kept rising and landed in the relieved crowd.
Ionuţ Preda's well-known speed was on display as he darted past his defender and sent a beautiful pass through the defender’s legs to
Yanis Beaugendre who scored the 1 - 1 goal. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 31 minutes into the match left Grilled's
Federico Parada completely free to score. 1 - 2 for the visitors.
Sejer Le made a superb effort after 33 minutes after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second to preserve the away lead. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 56 percent possession in this half was spot on!
Arcadi Guixer's speed was almost enough to give Crows a goal after 54 minutes, but his nice pass to
Lee Blayney was not taken care of properly. The away team's
Gandhik Chitre took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 56 minutes increasing Grilled's lead to 1 - 3. Grilled's coach was furious with
Chia Kwang Tse after he picked up a yellow for saying one too many words to the ref. With 67 minutes played,
Federico Parada nearly put the visitors up by one more as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot whizzed just over the bar. 75 minutes into the game, Grilled worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. Given a free kick from an impossible angle, Grilled went for a play that loyal fans may recognize from training. A square ball surprised the defense and let
Chia Kwang Tse slip through at goal. He hit it first time, making the score 1 - 4, 79 minutes into the game. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 1 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 1 - 4. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 58 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
Lee Blayney performed admirably for Crows. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Domenico Tracchi seemed to stumble all over the pitch. The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt
Gústav Thoroddsen. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Dimitris Germanakos today.
