It was headed clear, but Camilo Álvarez was waiting just outside the area and fired it home to make it 2 - 1. 35 minutes into the game Lagann's Szabolcs Kolonics found a gap in the home side's central defense and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 2 - 2. 2 - 3 was the score after 48 minutes, when Lagann's Aldemaro León cut through the central defense and pounded one in. After 59 minutes of play, Lagann's Niklas Schreer unexpectedly kicked the ball with reverse spin, and from no angle at all it ended up at the feet of Roy Phan who had an easy tap-in for 2 - 4. Gústav Thoroddsen almost lowered the gap having danced through the entire left side of the defense, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. By working their way through the middle, Grilled refused to be intimidated – their efforts finally led to Brian 'Was Born' Reddy managing to slip the ball past the keeper to make the score 3 - 4. The visitors' Roy Phan took advantage of a mix-up between the home side's goalie and center backs 74 minutes into the match. 3 - 5 for Lagann. The referee showed Lagann's Radu-Lucian Voian the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 80 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Aw Keng Chuan gave Damian Hutter a quick hug as he left the field. 88 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution. Teo Chuan Yong came on for Gústav Thoroddsen. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 51 percent possession in this half was spot on!

The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt Gandhik Chitre. Good thing Teo Chuan Yong isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. Victor Goncalves performed admirably for Lagann. Speaking of stinking up the place, Roy Phan sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
