GOLDEN JAG 1 - 4 Grilled

The weather was pretty good at the stadium today for the match. The following players had been selected: Steccanella - Anischenko, Gallo, Panaitescu - Liptak, Xin Cheng, Lichi, Lor, Bláha - Raweyai, Debenedetti.

Starters: Germanakos - Keng Chuan, 其材 (Qicai) - Reddy, Thach, Kwang Tse, Khairul, Parada - Chitre, Thoroddsen, An Keng.

Golden Jaguar trundled out to the pitch in a 3-5-2 formation. The visitors, Grilled Birds, chose to start the game with a 2-5-3 lineup. Brian 'Was Born' Reddy was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Grilled's Aw Keng Chuan managed to get ahold of the rebound and scored to make it 0 - 1. GOLDEN JAG's Pavel Bláha rushed past his defender and should have scored, but the finish was just wide, taking some paint off the post as it went out. GOLDEN JAG put pressure on the visitors' central defense with 19 minutes played, but Pavel Bláha couldn't find an opening. After 25 minutes of play, Hanif Raweyai equalized for GOLDEN JAG after a hard charging attack from the right. Grilled took the lead 29 minutes into the game, making the score 1 - 2 after some elegant movement down the middle. Federico Parada was the scorer. 1 - 2 was the score after the first half. Now to our celebrity commentator for a hot take. Over to you, Snoop! Federico Parada increased the visitors' lead by volleying in a pass from the right. 1 - 3. After 58 minutes, Pavel Bláha sprinted between the opposing defenders and laid the ball off to Hanif Raweyai, whose shot was saved by the keeper. With the scoreboard showing that 59 minutes had been played, Grilled nearly put themselves up another goal after Federico Parada came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. The referee showed GOLDEN JAG's Quek Xin Cheng the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After 68 minutes of game time, Gústav Thoroddsen had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, hitting a cross from the right with a half volley, but Agostino Steccanella was in the right place and tipped the ball to a corner. After 69 minutes, Grilled's Gústav Thoroddsen burst through the central defense and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 4. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time, they welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 1 - 4. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 59 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

GOLDEN JAG's best player was Andrea Debenedetti. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Pavel Bláha seemed to stumble all over the pitch. Grilled's top performer was clearly Gandhik Chitre. Good thing Dimitris Germanakos isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
