FCZ-1896 trundled out to the pitch in a 3-5-2 formation. The visitors, Grilled Birds, chose to start the game with a 2-5-3 lineup. Oh, it's a stupendous shot on goal! A Caravaggio! A Michelangelo! A Venus on the Half Shell! 16 minutes into the match and
Leif Templin has created art for the ages for FCZ-1896, putting them ahead 1 - 0. Oh, I'm weeping. I can't stop my eyes. Coming through the middle
Chad Thach almost scored the equalizer for Grilled after 25 minutes, but
Agostinho Marinha made an excellent save, tipping the awkward swerving shot past the post.
Chia Kwang Tse tied the game at 1 - 1 after 27 minutes, when he converted an incredible pass from the right.
Chad Thach came close to putting the visiting team one up 29 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
Agostinho Marinha managed to tip the ball over. With 33 minutes played, FCZ-1896's
Loris Costello received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first. Grilled's
Joe Reece gave the visitors a 1 - 2 lead after 34 minutes with a superb strike from the right. 1 - 2 was the halftime score. Let's go to the Twittersphere to see what the fans think of the game so far! says
Federico Parada somehow managed to break free of his man on the left wing and only needed a relatively easy finish to bring Grilled's lead up to 1 - 3. The away team's
Gústav Thoroddsen took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 49 minutes increasing Grilled's lead to 1 - 4. A thrilling play through the middle after 51 minutes gave Grilled's
Federico Parada a chance to increase the lead, and he happily obliged. The score was then 1 - 5. 64 minutes into the game, Grilled worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Orest Tokarz reluctantly made way for
Evandro La Face. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 1 - 5. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 63 percent possession in this half was spot on!
FCZ-1896's top performer was clearly
Sabatino Venneri. I can't remember
Fady Hamwia ever having a worse night than he just had. Grilled's best player was
Gústav Thoroddsen. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Lim An Keng seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
