Soltermee 3 - 3 Grilled

The spectators at the stadium today were in for an afternoon of sunshine. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. The following players took the field: 澤生 (Zesheng) - Touko, Courteyn, Carpentier, Vandenbossche, Cremona - Jones, Bencomo, Crokaert - Berzsenyi, Delattre.

The following players had been selected: Germanakos - An Keng, 其材 (Qicai) - Reddy, Thach, Kwang Tse, Khairul, Parada - Reece, Thoroddsen, Tokarz.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, FC Soltermee, went for a 5-3-2, while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. Soltermee displayed their ability to play creatively. With 17 minutes of the match played, a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but Gústav Thoroddsen, after dashing down on goal from the left and finding himself with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. Barthélémy Carpentier tipped the corner kick right to the keeper, who mishandled it, giving Soltermee's Godfrey Cremona a chance to knock it in for 1 - 0. Coming through the middle 夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) almost scored the equalizer for Grilled after 30 minutes, but 韓 (Hon) 澤生 (Zesheng) made an excellent save, tipping the awkward swerving shot past the post. 37 minutes into the match, the Speedy Gonzalez-like Henry Bencomo easily outran 夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) to knock in the 2 - 0 goal. Morale on the visitors' bench was greatly improved when their player Gústav Thoroddsen scored to make it 2 - 1 after 38 minutes, following a good pass from the right. A cross coming in on the right hand side left Joe Reece alone in front of the goal after 39 minutes but his shot wasn't taken well. With the clock showing 40 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Soltermee resulted in a counter-attack that was smoothly brought under control by Henry Bencomo in the center of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. Halftime score was 2 - 1. Let's go to the Twittersphere to see what the fans think of the game so far! says After 47 minutes, the visitors evened the score after Gústav Thoroddsen made it through the middle and struck home making it 2 - 2. 56 minutes into the game, Soltermee wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Jeason Vandenbossche gave Stefan Gosselin a quick hug as he left the field. As the captain was no longer on the field, Henry Bencomo took over the role for Soltermee. Kuurt Delattre gave Soltermee the 3 - 2 lead, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball at the keeper's right post – what a clinical finish! With the clock showing 70 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Orest Tokarz looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Evandro La Face, though he would have liked to continue. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The home team thought they were lucky after a brilliant strike from the right bounced off the crossbar 90 minutes in. Joe Reece was first to react though, and leveled the game at 3 - 3. With the match clock reading 91 minutes, the inexperienced Soltermee team fell into disarray. The match ends 3 - 3. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses and a Twisted Metal F.C. tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. Soltermee's best player was Kuurt Delattre. I can't remember Godfrey Cremona ever having a worse night than he just had. Grilled's top performer was clearly Gústav Thoroddsen. Speaking of stinking up the place, Lim An Keng sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
