Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For lucer, the formation of choice was a 3-5-2. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their divine (+8) (28) ability to great effect. Speedy Federico Parada tried one of his patented runs 31 minutes into the game, but Humberto Mouta was just as fast and averted the attack. Grilled were very close to putting themselves one up with 33 minutes gone as Lim An Keng got through on the left, but a lapse in concentration sent the ball wide. lucer took the lead after 37 minutes making the score 0 - 1. The keeper had no chance on Tomasz Gajowski's fine volley fromleft of the net after a cross from the right. Dimitris Germanakos got a fingertip on Rigino Martis's shot from the left 39 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. The referee showed lucer's Albert Feisst the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After 41 minutes of play, Federico Parada evened things up for Grilled with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1. Joe Reece is making an astonishing dash. The fans are chanting his name. You can hear it reverberate around the stadium. Now a manic sprint up the middle and into the box. Oh! He's thrown open the door! He's thrown open the door, shot the ball through, and slammed the door shut on Mr. Tumnus! Grilled has taken the lead 42 minutes into the match, 2 to 1. There'll be no Turkish Delight after the match for the keeper! Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 43 minutes on the clock after Brian 'Was Born' Reddy's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Grilled player a yellow card though. 2 - 1 was the halftime score. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 51 percent possession in this half was spot on!

56 minutes into the game lucer's Adrián Bilbao found a gap in the home side's central defense and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 2 - 2. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 57 minutes into the match, and Humberto Mouta wasn't about to waste it. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 2 - 3 for the visitors. Mohd Marzuki Khairul made a superb effort after 60 minutes after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second to preserve the away lead. Everyone had expected a shot from the free kick 62 minutes into the game, but lucer sent the ball sideways instead, giving Albert Feisst a clear look at goal with no wall in his way. He sent it through the keeper's legs for 2 - 4! The crowd groaned when Chad Thach, having maneuvered his way down the right, fired the ball just wide and missed a great opportunity to pull one back for Grilled. After 73 minutes, lucer's Juan Agramunt burst through the central defense and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 2 - 5. 75 minutes into the game, lucer wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Humberto Mouta gave Mario Erosa a quick hug as he left the field. As the 75 minute mark approached, the lucer manager decided it was time for a substitution. Raimundo Aedo reluctantly made way for Juan Miguel Pérez García. After 85 minutes, the lucer coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Tomasz Gajowski off. Przemysław Błachut took his place. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 3 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 2 - 5. The battle in midfield was tight, with possession split evenly between the teams.

The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt Gústav Thoroddsen. I can't remember Lim An Keng ever having a worse night than he just had. Przemysław Błachut performed admirably for lucer. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Mario Erosa today.
