KiissuliVeikot 1 - 3 Grilled
Fairly good weather for football at the stadium today. They fielded:
Shoylev -
El Abed,
Coca,
Adigun,
Manzanero -
Sherif,
Špetla,
Kyllönen,
Heiskala -
Paul,
Pelkonen.
The following players took the field:
Germanakos -
An Keng,
其材 (Qicai) -
Reddy,
Thach,
Kwang Tse,
Khairul,
Parada -
Reece,
Thoroddsen,
Tokarz.
KiissuliVeikot fielded a 4-4-2 lineup. For Grilled Birds, the formation of choice was a 2-5-3.
Raouf Sherif almost caused an own goal when he foolishly sent the ball towards his own goalie, but at the last minute one of his teammates managed to stop the ball. A mistake by the home side's central defense after 9 minutes allowed
Gústav Thoroddsen to score for Grilled. The visitors have the lead, 0 - 1. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Grilled's
Joe Reece finally got himself booked for a foul. After the ball was lifted in from the left,
Chad Thach was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 12 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration.
夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) seemed to be defying gravity as he elegantly headed in a goal for Grilled after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
Federico Parada. That makes it 0 - 2. Grilled's
Chia Kwang Tse made it through the home team's defense on the right hand side 25 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded net when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 26 minutes on the clock after
Juha Heiskala's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the KiissuliVeikot player a yellow card though. Grilled came close to extending their lead as
Mohd Marzuki Khairul delivered a low effort on goal from the right but the angle was too sharp, and the shot was destined for the side netting. KiissuliVeikot could have gotten back into the game if only
Cozmin Coca's free kick 30 minutes in had dipped a but more. It was 0 - 2 at the break. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 59 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Orest Tokarz gave
Evandro La Face a quick hug as he left the field.
Radoslav Shoylev got a fingertip on
Chia Kwang Tse's shot from the left 72 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. The referee showed KiissuliVeikot's
Alexandr Špetla the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After 77 minutes, Grilled's
夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) burst through the central defense and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3. After 78 minutes, the KiissuliVeikot coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Cozmin Coca off.
Riku Lintonen took his place.
Cozmin Coca was coming off, and had taken his last free kick for the day. That meant
Raymond Adigun got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. The home crowd was briefly mollified when
Rafa Manzanero reduced the lead to 1 - 3 after a brilliant midfield give-and-go through the middle. With the match clock reading 86 minutes, the inexperienced Grilled team fell into disarray. With the scoreboard showing that 87 minutes had been played, Grilled nearly put themselves up another goal after
Gústav Thoroddsen came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. After 87 minutes, a deliberate handball from KiissuliVeikot's
Juha Heiskala was judged to be his second bookable offense, and he was sent off. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 2 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 1 - 3. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses and a Twisted Metal F.C. tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. KiissuliVeikot's top performer was clearly
Edi Pelkonen. Good thing
Riku Lintonen isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. Grilled's best player was
Gústav Thoroddsen. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Lim An Keng sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
