Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Berceni Suceava, the formation of choice was a 3-5-2. BRCN SV mostly ignored the flanks in favor of their brilliant (11) ability to attack in the middle. Some great play up the middle by Grilled led to a chance for
Gústav Thoroddsen to get the go-ahead goal with 2 minutes played, but the shot hit the crossbar.
Tristan David tipped the corner kick right to the keeper, who mishandled it, giving BRCN SV's
Jon Harboe a chance to knock it in for 0 - 1. Grilled's coach was furious with
Chad Thach after he picked up a yellow for saying one too many words to the ref. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 54 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
After 70 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Orest Tokarz off.
Evandro La Face took his place. 70 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Lim An Keng came on for
Chia Kwang Tse. Grilled put pressure on the visitors' central defense with 71 minutes played, but
Gústav Thoroddsen couldn't find an opening. Unsportsmanlike behavior by
Chad Thach earned him his second booking of the match, and Grilled had to finish the game with a reduced squad. The away team's
Nestor Persinger took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 74 minutes increasing BRCN SV's lead to 0 - 2. The ball was in the back of the home team's net yet again after 75 minutes, but this time the referee called the goal back because
Adorian Radu had knocked a member of the opposing team to the ground while the play occurred down the middle of the field. At the 77 minute mark, it looked like the opportunity for Grilled to score had been missed when suddenly
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy worked his way clear and fired off a spectacular shot. The keeper had no chance! 1 - 2. With 78 minutes on the clock, Grilled's
Joe Reece found an opening in the visitors' left side, but his shot was handled easily by the keeper. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 1 - 2. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 52 percent possession in this half was spot on!
Grilled's best player was
Gústav Thoroddsen. I can't remember
Dimitris Germanakos ever having a worse night than he just had. BRCN SV's top performer was clearly
Anı Kumral. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Petre Mărcuş today.
