LQS 1 - 7 Grilled
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 2905 to
Tanto Sol Sobre Las Cabezas.
Salim Youssouf was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Diomandé Droubry and
Joe Coulston. The intense heat made it hard for players relying on strength or speed to shine. On the other hand, it provided perfect conditions for the more technical players. LQS's lineup was:
Alejos -
Oscate,
Ames,
Bernedo -
Rospigliosi,
Acostupa,
Aliaga,
Montesinos,
Olivera -
Olazo,
Cevallos.
Grilled fielded:
Law -
Jaška,
El Khateeb -
Trindade,
Thach,
Keng Chuan,
Kwang Tse,
Ferzan -
Reece,
Thoroddsen,
Chitre.
It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+5) (25) level with that tactic. With 4 minutes played
Alberto Aliaga almost gave the home side the lead with an unexpected free kick set up, but the visitors'
Cameron Law was onto it, grabbing the would be breakthrough ball. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. After 10 minutes, Grilled's
Gústav Thoroddsen made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1.
Chia Kwang Tse of Grilled seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 0 - 2 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
Radovan Jaška. LQS's
Alberto Aliaga had a nice free kick routine after 34 minutes that was very close to paying off, had it not been for a dramatic save by the visitors' keeper. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
Augusto Ames got himself booked. The manager of LQS was not happy. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. The visitors'
Gústav Thoroddsen took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 37 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for Grilled. LQS refused to be intimidated and, breaking through the middle,
Alberto Aliaga managed to slip the ball home for 1 - 3. Halftime score was 1 - 3. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.
46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Joe Reece gave
Orest Tokarz a quick hug as he left the field. It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. After 48 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Orest Tokarz who increased Grilled's lead to 1 - 4.
Chia Kwang Tse of Grilled took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 56 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 5. Grilled came close to extending their lead as
Chad Thach delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 65 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. After 75 minutes, the LQS coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Paulino Olazo off the field.
Luigi Parolisi took his place.
Luigi Parolisi was handed the LQS captain's armband.
Ramiro Cevallos did everything he could to get one back for his LQS, but keeper
Cameron Law denied him with a spectacular block. The home crowd was not impressed when
Gústav Thoroddsen came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 80 minutes. Grilled were now up 1 - 6. This third goal completed a hattrick for
Gústav Thoroddsen.
Radovan Jaška would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Bhavya Panigrahi entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. As
Radovan Jaška left the field, the coach signaled to
Bhavya Panigrahi to be the new set pieces taker. As the 89 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Gandhik Chitre reluctantly made way for
Bilal Mohammad Harun on the pitch. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. After 89 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
Orest Tokarz a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 7. The match ends 1 - 7. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.
Most important LQS player was
Lizandro Acostupa. However,
Joel Oscate made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Gústav Thoroddsen. On the other hand,
Bhavya Panigrahi's play was disheartening.
