Flu 1 - 5 Grilled

Weather conditions were pretty good for football today. Lineup: Roth - Henchoz, Rouiller, Vúlchev - Antunes, Barberis, Nauleau, Buerger, Markfort - Neuville, da Silva.

They fielded: Germanakos - Keng Chuan, 其材 (Qicai) - Reddy, Teck Fu, An Keng, Khairul, Trindade - Reece, Thoroddsen, Tokarz.

Fluminense FC Gilead started the game in a 3-5-2 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (+8) (28) ability to attack in the middle today. Grilled's Gústav Thoroddsen managed to lose the defenders as he burst through the right side and scored, putting the visitors ahead, 0 - 1. After 36 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Gústav Thoroddsen who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 2. With 37 minutes played, Grilled's Gústav Thoroddsen received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Gústav Thoroddsen was, after 39 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the center, but the home side's keeper Sebastien Roth made the save. Oh dear, hide the children! 41 minutes into the match, Alexis Antunes came down the left flank with a torch in one hand and a sword in the other. He's annihilated the defense and devastated the keeper! Goal for Flu, reducing the lead to 1 - 2. Joe Reece seemed to fly off the ground as the corner came into the box, but his header went straight to the man on the post. It was 1 - 2 at the break. Now to our celebrity commentator for a hot take. Over to you, Snoop! A thrilling play through the middle after 48 minutes gave Grilled's Paulino Trindade a chance to increase the lead, and he happily obliged. The score was then 1 - 3. With 49 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 1 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Joe Reece. 70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Orest Tokarz gave Evandro La Face a quick hug as he left the field. With the clock showing 75 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Alexis Antunes looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Massimo Lombardo, though he would have liked to continue. As the 85 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution. Joe Reece reluctantly made way for Phua Ming Xin. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 beyond the regular 90 minutes. Some fine one-twos on the left led to a Grilled goal with 89 minutes gone, making it 1 - 5. Paulino Trindade was noted down as the scorer. Marcus da Silva challenged the visitors' central defense eagerly, producing a good chance 90 minutes into the game as he raced for a through ball. But, like so many times before, the guests' defensive positioning was just too good. The match ends 1 - 5. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses and a Twisted Metal F.C. tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. Flu's top performer was clearly Marcus da Silva. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Dimitar Vúlchev today. The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt Gústav Thoroddsen. Speaking of stinking up the place, Dimitris Germanakos sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
