Shingens 1 - 2 Grilled
e 60417 spectators at Shingen's Marauders Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine.
Fabien Collard was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Crépin Fares and
Timmy Plauborg. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Shingens. The following players had been chosen: Puay Ming - Nóbrega, Chem-Tov, Simek - Walther, Tai-Loc, Tze Teck, Rundlind, Brink - Vecvanags, Roy.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Grilled. Starters: Abed-Sulaiman - Zywczyn, Lik-Tsun, Bona - Spirig, Han Kok, MacKinnon, Paullin, Jie Siong - Rotteveel, bin Ku Zainol.
It was obvious that Shingens were using their pressing skill as their primary tactic. 3 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Shingens to take the lead after a good centering pass from the right found
Arthur Walther alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post.
Sylweriusz Zywczyn enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again. 26 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
Lee Jie Siong, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. Shingens pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. After 33 minutes, Grilled's
Subri bin Ku Zainol made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Shingens's
Anders Brink a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 35 minutes into the game. Unfortunately for Grilled,
Lee Jie Siong was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
Hidde van Liere replaced him. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.
67 minutes into the match, Shingens's
RenÄts Vecvanags maneuvered his way around the opposition on the left flank, delighting the crowd with his twists and turns. The effort paid off as the ball found the back of the net, evening the score at 1 - 1. After 69 minutes, Grilled's
Quah Han Kok made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 1 - 2.
Maikel Rotteveel could have put his team up another goal 70 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post.
Maikel Rotteveel wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat. With 83 minutes played,
Subri bin Ku Zainol nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 53 percent possession of the ball.
The most dominating Shingens player was without a doubt
Chua Puay Ming.
Anders Brink turned in a dismal performance, however. Grilled's best player was
Lorenz Paullin. However,
Hidde van Liere made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 2.
