The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while Joker 9 has decided to play a 3-5-2 lineup. Grilled used their divine (+8) (28) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Joker showed off their supernatural (14) creative tactics. At 12 minutes played,
Chia Kwang Tse came in from the right with the intention of giving Grilled the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. Grilled took the lead 18 minutes in, as
Chad Thach broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
Federico Parada squirmed through their central defence after 18 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. A bit later, Joker's
Avelino Franco easily reduced the lead to 2 - 1 after a misunderstanding in the home side's central defence. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's
Mohd Marzuki Khairul increasing the lead to 3 - 1. 34 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
Gandhik Chitre broke through, making the score 4 - 1 for Grilled. Halftime score was 4 - 1. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.
Grilled's
Mohd Marzuki Khairul took a knock to the head after 52 minutes, due to a badly executed header. He looked wobbly for a second, but eventually just laughed it off and continued playing. Cheers filled the stadium as
Federico Parada broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 1 to Grilled.
夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) got left behind when Joker's
Chan 'Jayjay' Jian Jian left scorch marks in the turf 65 minutes, finishing off with a blisteringly swift strike. 5-2! Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. Grilled solidified their lead at the 67 minute mark, as
Hwang Teck Fu dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 6 - 2.
Aw Keng Chuan should probably have put his team up another goal after 68 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by
Jens-Harald Schimmelpfennig kept the visitors in the game. With 69 minutes played, the excellent ball from the wing by Joker's
Mario Schumpbach reached
Hans-Ulrich Rehn's head, and he is not one to miss such an opportunity - 6 - 3. The visitors replied 77 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 6 - 4, as
Tay 'Lucky' Fu Yew dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Gústav Thoroddsen from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 79 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Gandhik Chitre would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Paulino Trindade entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 80 minutes. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Chad Thach off the field.
Chan Ze Han took his place. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 5 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 6 - 4. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.
The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Lim An Keng. On the other hand,
Dimitris Germanakos's play was disheartening. Joker's top performer was clearly
Chan 'Jayjay' Jian Jian.
Jens-Harald Schimmelpfennig on the other hand, had a terrible day.
