Phondle Upset
The result had Grilled Birds atop the III.1 table with a five-goal lead in goal difference, albeit with five clubs level on four points. There was nothing at all separating Sunrise Treasure FC, Phantasm Hotspurs, Controlar and Shadow Chaser(R) SC then, if with the latter two dropping a couple of spots after their mutual draw. Stefan Prusaczyk opened early on Hesam Ferdos's mistake in the second minute, but Au Weili equalized in the 61st, which was followed by the loss of Marcelinho Auriani and Eugenio Familiari to injuries.
Otherwise, the principle of there being no easy games continued to hold, with Hotspurs having to work to pull off a 2-1 away win at Mayuyu AKB48, who must be feeling that their zero points after two rounds was slightly undeserved. Much the same went for tpyers, who had nothing to show after running up a two-goal lead against Sunrise Treasure FC. They will moreover be without Kwok Ho Shi for a fortnight, due to a badly bruised collarbone.
Tian Yonghang reminded his players to keep their eyes on the prize, even as three more of his squad -
Lim An Keng,
Chia Kwang Tse and
Chad Thach - were tapped as possible additions to the national setup. "We have a good fixture list with difficult games spread out, so I expect a serious challenge for the title this term."
Farmer Bunnies would record two victories from two matches, in an unexpected win against prohibitive favourites FC Phondle at Carrot Field. Recently relegated from Division Two, the rising Serangoon outfit were nonetheless expected to be too much for the Buns under Belgian boss Godefroy Materne, what with the undoubted firepower of António Vasco Gouveia and Adli Jamal on tap.
Neither of them would threaten
Gilberto Sorondo under the Buns' suffocating defence - burnished by rotating man-marking - today, though, and instead it would be man of the moment
Toh Eng Guang to give them the three points in the 82nd minute, as
Ong Li Jing curled a low ball in from the right. There's no indication of how high Toh's star can rise, really, as
Vishnu Tallapaka's team-building patience appears to be paying off.
This has Farmer Bunnies in second right behind WhiteSandsMechs on goal difference, that boosted by a 6-0 rout of bottom-dwellers AFC Woodlands. Mangrove Pittas appear in trouble too, as they were hit for seven by Really McCoys with Əhməd Babayev bagging four, while Brighton UK bounced back by beating FC Jurong Rovers 4-0, if with a slight knee concern sustained by transfer-listed goalkeeper Ferdinand Willenegger.
Grilled International did the usual against Saudi Arabia's Elefanten der Wüste, as
Phua Li Kong led with a double in an otherwise uneventful day out. AC Rabissale and Amelinho Kickers matched each other with 5-0 wins against Nice AS and SFK Ajaks respectively, as Baboon Show St. Pauli outdid Ponyhof 3-1 in the remaining fixture between semi-professionals.
