SingaStyle 4 - 0 Grilled
It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 21490 that came out to
Singapore Arena.
Urmas Halliste was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Rodrigo Beenkens and
Nail Kərimov. It was a sunny day and the Technical players could roll the ball around with ease. Those that had to chase after the ball found the weather less appealing, it especially stymied the game of Powerful and Quick players. The match took place on neutral ground. SingaStyle's lineup was:
Asseke -
Kempers,
敦仁 (Dunren),
How Ming -
Cole,
Cioncan,
Mohd Idhlan,
Ting Feng,
Jian Tse -
Abanos,
Cosio.
The following players had been chosen by Grilled:
Vadalà -
Mangoye,
Hutter -
Baena,
Kwang Tse,
Khairul,
Teck Fu,
Trindade -
Ze Han,
Tokarz,
Chitre.
The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team SingaStyle went for 3-5-2 while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. Grilled had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 5 minutes in when
Chia Kwang Tse came up alone against
Arthur Asseke who managed a block.
Mohd Sulaimi Mohd Idhlan of SingaStyle was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
Gandhik Chitre came close to putting the visiting team one up 19 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
Arthur Asseke managed to tip the ball to a corner. SingaStyle fans held their breath as
Sieb Kempers scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
Enrique Baena was doing a great job on his wing, sending in brilliant passes to his teammates in the middle, but
Mohd Marzuki Khairul seemed unable to profit from this excellent service. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.
Chan Ze Han would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Mohsen El Khateeb entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes.
Chan Ze Han was coming off, and had placed his last free kick for the day. That meant that
Atang Mangoye got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. As the captain was no longer on the pitch,
Manuel Vadalà took over the role of being the Grilled captain. 46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Orest Tokarz gave
Ibnou Balde a quick hug as he left the field. SingaStyle's
Dragoş Cioncan increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 53 minutes. SingaStyle were given a gift! The ref dubiously awarded them a penalty 66 minutes into the match, which was neatly put away by
Sieb Kempers. 3 - 0 for the home side.
Sieb Kempers increased SingaStyle's lead to 4 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
Sieb Kempers. After 85 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Atang Mangoye off the field.
Bhavya Panigrahi took his place. With
Atang Mangoye no longer on the pitch,
Bhavya Panigrahi became the new set pieces taker. The referee announced 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 4 - 0. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.
SingaStyle's top performer was clearly
Dragoş Cioncan. On the other hand,
Poh Jian Tse's play was disheartening. Grilled's best player was
Hwang Teck Fu.
Manuel Vadalà was a disappointment, however.
