The ex-FC Percosaira club have reached new heights after getting new management and being renamed as L3gend, and they must now be considered a serious threat after running Grilled close in a showpiece match.
The all-local side came at the Birds with a refreshing freshness, and the 15000-odd supporters were in good voice when defender Rong Yll-cheng made a heartstopping run and dropped the ball over a surprised
Hang Bao-Tam.
That unexpected lead didn't last too long, though, and Grilled were on level terms within eight minutes. The L3gend defence didn't have enough experience to read Chen's winding run, and
Zhan Ju-Hau hit a square pass on the run that the Grilled striker easily knocked out of Ang Dong-Ju's reach.
Tim Hobson then followed his booking with a goal, as Zhan again took command of the left flank. Hobson should have passed to the unmarked Chen on 28 minutes, but selfishly went for it himself and buried it into the side netting.
While L3gend didn't look out of place, Grilled's players understandably had a rather better understanding, and it showed in the sixtieth minute as Seng-Huat didn't even have to look to find Zhan on the left touchline. The ball was immediately floated over to Machado, who didn't hesitate in executing a superb scissors kick that flew straight in.
That was through no fault of goalie Ang Dong-Ju, who raised his value with a great save from Hobson's inch-perfect free-kick a little later on. L3gend recovered from an injury to midfield dynamo Xiao Ming-tzong, inflicted by Seng-Huat, by pulling another back through Lu Siu-Chung, setting up a very interesting final seven minutes that however produced no more chances of note.
