Victory By Night
Grilled's Trophy of Legends campaign got off on the right foot with three straight wins on day one, beginning with a 4-0 off Dutch VI.131 representatives fc energy.
Chan Ze Han had been drafted back into the Birds' thinned attack for the tourney, and he responded with a crisp finish in the 38th minute as Grilled peppered Niko Alaviiri's goal with near-misses in the first half.
Joe Reece would come up empty after replacing Chan for the second half then, but he would improve against Polish V.94 winners Nightfly next, notching a goal in the 60th minute in a 6-2 win that had Grilled surge to three in the first seven. Another league champion was next with Victory (1981) of the Dutch IV.23, which resulted in another 6-2 with
Ha Qicai going on a one-man rampage towards the end of the first half, to pick up a personal brace.
Farmer Bunnies would navigate the Heroes of 2014 Trophy in a more modest fashion, collecting a single goal while letting none in. Clashes against Beresurány (Hungarian V.144) and L.L.V. Näfpoli 1903 (Swiss V.155) would result in nothing doing except five yellow cards, but there would be a win against Slovenian V.45 champs FC Centrifuga.
Arturo Rosano came up with the decider after 76 minutes as Centrifuga focused on defence too, and that from an inch-perfect free-kick that left Benin custodian Idrissou Omotoyossi with no chance at all.
Grilled International secured a flawless record too, with Spanish VI.195 club rafjet_2.0 their first victims, with
Phua Li Kong and
Umut Koza plundering them for two each in a 5-2. Koza's excellent run continued as he blew through Montepiducchiese's backline in the 30th minute next, and while the Italian V.135 side replied through a quick-thinking Erand Libohova five minutes later,
Mohsen Zeynali's earlier chip meant a 2-1 result for International here.
The final engagement of the day would be against Polish V.224 strugglers Kluski Grodków, and their midfield deficiencies were only too evident in the 0-4 thrashing, that had Zeynali match
Chua Jun Long's pace in injury time for the fourth. That brought much appreciation from
Snæbjörn Sigfússon, who had been rested for the time being. "Mohsen was working his tail off out there, that's what I like to see!"
