Ravens Dispatched
For Grilled's best efforts, it would be a draw for the S-League against Ecuador's II.2 league, with the only other Singaporean representatives to win being newly-crowned Singapore Cup champions, Sarcastic Fringeheads. They did it in style too, demolishing Fylke United by eight goals to one, with Esteban Rosales finding Fylke's only goal.
It was very tough luck for -= Manchester United =-, who were denied their first Singapore Cup, and would now be defeated at the death by Bonita Banana's George Molocea preying on a defensive mistake. That made it 3-4 against United, with UDNTK FC losing 2-3 to Rocafuerte Fútbol Club, though Andrija Galov gave an excellent account of himself with some exceptional finishing.
There wasn't too much of note in Farmer Bunnies' one-all versus Cameroon II.3 leaders Melrose FC, who seized the lead in the 40th minute through former national striker Eyong Bono. All the Buns could do was to wait for opportunity to present itself, and
Mushtag Al-Nameeri would snap it up with eleven minutes remaining. Anyway, the other II.4 clubs would pick up the slack, with The EV and Galactic Eagles CF whitewashing Na Madraí Camarúnacha and Olympia Yaoundé, 6-0 and 2-0 respectively.
Grilled International got one over Malta's The International Raven Team after last weekend's disappointing draw, but it wasn't easy either, and took
Wang Hanxuan's late effort to prevail 2-1. Wang's early corner had provided
Osertz Indurain a tap-in, but Grilled International were found wanting for imagination after Kilin Zarb's leveller. The visitors pressed hard to save a point, only to lose Hani Najjar to a groin injury.
That had International up to third in the table, but with New Vikings still eight points ahead despite being unexpectedly held by roter stern ghana, their supporters aren't expecting much. "If we end the season with Olaisen out, that's enough for me." one of them grumbled.
