That's It Then

The Birds, Buns and International finished 4407th, 2337th and 13226th respectively in the latest Supporter Week Trophy, on 18, 20 and 13 points - some distance off the 26 needed for a slight chance at the knockout phase.

Grilled Birds won just one of their final three fixtures, first falling to Iranian Division Two side Taaje aasemaan, whose on-form Slovenian forward Zlatko Razdrih struck twice - just as he had done to save his club in a qualification match against KALEJ. Islom Davlatov and Vikram Mudaliar had set up an exciting finish by pulling Grilled to 3-2, but Razdrih's poach in the 82nd minute settled the argument.

No luck against former Omani cupwinners Opukka II, who were out to prove themselves after being relegated from the Al-Dawry Al-Omani. Swiss winger Severin Brander came close to a hat-trick in a 5-3 win, though Cyril Künzler did score perhaps the pick of the lot, from some thirty yards out in time added on. Bilal Mohammad Harun then took over against Croatian Division Five side IFC SPARTA BRNO, with the match more or less decided after seventeen minutes, as Neeraj Muthyala made it 4-1 to the Birds.

The Bunnies harboured no illusions of another last sixty-four placing after a disastrous second day, but garnered a respectable seven points from nine. German Division Four club Sassnitz United were first beaten 5-1, buoyed by a Tham Leng Teck brace. Spanish V.182 side Despertaferro F.C. were then shut out in the last round, with Namdar Zarar coming on as a second-half substitute to decide matters with a clever run, ably assisted by Mushtag Al-Nameeri.

In between, Cambodian third divisioners Bingo Bongo Berlin had held Farmer Bunnies to a one-all draw. They might not have had the best of seasons, but came out as a cohesive unit, and Peou Soy made the most of Claude Lemoine's 32nd minute breakthrough to give Berlin the lead. The Buns answered on the counter via Ibrahim Zahran Al-Maashany in the 64th, but Lemoine came closest to an outright winner despite an energetic ending from Farmer.

International would once more endure opening defeats, the first to German Division Five side FC Magic Motion, who swept to 3-0 by the 20th minute. Wang Hanxuan did get onto the highlights with a silky dribble in the opposition box that completely threw off Nabih Heikal, but he couldn't match it with a quality finish. International came closer against another German club in Dynamo Tresen 2017, one division down, but lost 2-3 nonetheless.

They would at least find some joy against Spanish Division Seven side Chemical Team, who despite taking an early lead through Óscar Vaca, would eventually wind up on the wrong end of a 2-7 result. International boasted of seven different scorers as they played keep-ball with relish, recording a possession rate of well over seventy percent.
