While none of today's squad were present when Grilled suffered their thrashing by the Warriors eight seasons back, reserve defender Rashid bin Ahmad - who travelled with the team - felt that the exorcism was long overdue.

"It's a closure of sorts, although I'd have preferred it came in happier times for them." Rashid said. "You don't forget a terrible result like that readily, and it cast a pall over us for a long time afterwards."

That aside, Kalki Parvathaneni's hat-trick underlined his growth as a forward, while Vikram Mudaliar and Islom Davlatov showed all the makings of a top partnership. To add to that, newbies upset -Blitz- through a late Eric Johnson strike, which leaves the Birds just one point from the top.

ArSenal U21 maintained their five-point gap to Grilled with a 5-1 home battering of Red Chaos, who were overtaken by Ropelearner FC on goal difference. With the Warriors and FC Pires stuck solidly in the basement, however, both should be good for a qualifier at the very least.

Farmer Bunnies and Grilled International both recorded eight-nil wins, with the Buns likewise pullin within a point of the league leaders in III.11. Similarly as for the Birds, Soon Soon were run over by a resurgent Unium F.C, all the more with their star Dutch forward Michel Daniel Boute suffering a debilitating groin injury early on.

As for the match against City Wanderers itself, calling it one-sided would be an understatement. The Buns would camp in the opposition half after Morgan Hu hit the bar early on, and Enzo Paolo Panzarino would ring up two penalties in the second half, with Wanderers' veteran skipper Ding Ky-Shen understandably unimpressed by the referee.

For Grilled International, they ended the first half of their season with a perfect seven wins, smashing Faroese side dago international 8-0 away. Wang Hanxuan and Soo Kiong Yau had a brace each, as Ragib Banović disappointed with only a saved header from a 26th minute corner to his name.

The 19 year-old Bosnian didn't take it to heart, though. "Next time." he said simply.
