Farmer Fall Away

A second successive defeat condemned the formerly high-flying -Blitz- to the bottom half of the table, but Grilled didn't make up any ground on Changi Genius either. The league leaders maintained their four-point advantage by hammering newbies are newbies 5-2 away, despite finishing with ten men after Wee Kim Yun's late dismissal.

While Grilled are expected to collect another three points against Singa Songo next Sunday, veteran defender Yuki Irie couldn't see Changi slipping up. "We need them to drop points before the finale, and from how they destroyed newbies today, I just can't see it. ArSenal U21 the week before that is probably our best hope, assuming we're still in contention."

The visitors made a sweep today, with ArSenal U21 and Really McCoys making short work of Black Banana FC and Singa Songo respectively on their travels. Salah al Din Al-Temaimai and Adli Nizar grabbed consolation goals for the rank underdogs, who lost 1-8, 1-6.

Farmer Bunnies' own title dreams were crushed by M4 United, after another loss to the East Coast side. Sikong Darong went for a 4-5-1 this time, but the Buns proved less than able to adopt the new system, as they managed precious few chances. They were in the end beaten by Enéias Trentini's lone goal, from a 60th minute corner.

Team captain Vishnu Tallapaka took it badly, departing the postmortem in a foul mood, but Sikong reiterated his commitment to his new formations. "The title is one thing, but we won't survive in Division Two as a one-trick pony anyway."

Grilled International would gain some pride by holding the VI.113 frontrunners FC. Schalke 1904 to a draw, with Abdul Hamid bin Hj Ali Timbang playing through pain to cram a 49th minute strike in off Lukáš Otrubčák's legs, after the Slovakian centreback had gotten Schalke off to a flying start in the third minute. It could have gotten even more glorious after International were awarded a penalty in the 69th, but Ratano bin Omar hit it poorly, with regular taker Soo Kiong Yau rested.

Head coach Tajit bin Mohd was more than satisfied, regardless. "It's an excellent result!" he enthused. "That was some great spirit by the guys. We'll be aiming for another point at least against Real Hazard."

Second-placed Hazard do look less than unbeatable, after they were taken down by fontannen international's efficient sniping today. This must have given encouragement to Czech representatives Samotišky Saints, who are now within just two points of the leaders, with their win over roccoeisuoifratelli courtesy of Viktor Jupa's strike.
