Rykowski Ready
With
Wong Tian Han's recovery going more slowly than expected, Polish backup
Krystian Rykowski is edging ever closer to starting in the S-League, a possibility that the 25 year-old admitted had never crossed his mind.
"I mean, I was playing all over Europe for whoever would take me, and when you've wound up in the middle Mexican divisions, Singapore seems a world away. But then there were a few good saves, they say somebody uploaded them on YouTube... and there you have it." the mild-mannered Rykowski summarized.
However, he also insisted that the thought of playing in front of near a hundred thousand screaming fans at The Cooking Pot did not faze him in the slightest. "It would be a big day, but in another way, it's just another day."
The Birds are slated to face Division Four side littlehorse in the next round, while Farmer Bunnies, who dispensed with The XII. handily by five goals, are up against the familiar sight of Marina Bay Sands next.
With Greek top scorer
Ermis Ftenopoulos due for a long layoff after a suspected leg fracture, though, the Bunnies will also have to rely on a reserve to raise his game.
"I think
Li Min Pin can handle it." Bunnies head coach
Elias van Dal asserted. "He's been sharp in training, and I have him down for extra sessions practising how to hold it up."
