Apostate 1 - 4 Grilled
7 punters turned up at Apostate Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Carlos Gonçalves was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Roland Holzgräber and
Paul Daniel. Apostate had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Rosenflod - Chuen-Tak, Sin-wing, Mohd Tahir - Han-chieh, Tuong, Bao, Chalermsan, Tam-Jan - Jet-Li, Shrivastava.
Grilled had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Bao-Tam - bin Che Lah, Tuan-Mu, Sun-Nee - Seng-kar, Dai-Lin, García Sole, Machado, Pence - Chiew-Yen, Hobson.
Apostate had a good opportunity to take the lead as
Zi Tam-Jan came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of
Hang Bao-Tam. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Grilled's
Ding Sun-Nee got himself booked. With 31 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
Chen Chiew-Yen put the ball away for 0 - 1.
Chen Chiew-Yen increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 2. The structure of the game started to change as Grilled decided to pull back and meet their opponents in their own half. The referee showed Grilled's
Ricard Machado the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After 39 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Tim Hobson who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 3. 0 - 3 was the halftime score. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 59 percent possession of the ball.
Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Grilled's
Tom Pence somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for
Chen Chiew-Yen, who struck for 0 - 4. At that,
Chen Chiew-Yen was noted down for a hat trick. With 55 minutes played, Apostate's
Qing Bao fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked
Qing Bao for diving.
Ricard Machado came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but he lifted the ball over
Mats Rosenflod and it was a little too high and hit the bar.
Chen Chiew-Yen of Grilled received a yellow card after 77 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Apostate's
Mahathir Mohd Mohd Tahir managed a superb strike from the left after 79 minutes that would have left goalkeeper
Hang Bao-Tam without a chance, had it not hit the post. Apostate's
Zi Tam-Jan cut towards the middle after 80 minutes, receiving a brilliant pass and slicing through the visiting team's central defence, putting the 1 - 4 goal away. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.
Apostate's best player was
Chenpaganathan Shrivastava.
Li Tuong was a disappointment, however. Grilled's best player was
Hang Bao-Tam.
