Amiga Amigos
Timely Torsson
The Grilled reserve side lost a rare home friendly to Polish Division Four side Amiga Janow, in a match that appeared headed for a disappointing whitewash before two late goals that gave the nearly 3000 home fans some cause for relief.
Amiga turned up in a black strip that appeared uncannily similar to Manchester United's, and started off with a fluency that even that famous side might have been proud of; their midfielders shared the ball for the first minute as Grilled struggled in vain to retrieve it, until a defence-splitting pass from Hagen found hometown hero Roman Tarski ready to slip in the opener.
The visitors' quality of play inevitably slipped after that high point, but it remained high enough to keep the Grilled reserve team penned in their own half.
Alvaro Silvera restored some of his less-than-wonderful confidence with a sterling save against Gaweł Traczyk's low header. Silvera was again called into action in the 25th minute, and did admirably with a touch on a venomous strike by Hubert Fornalski, for which the latter claimed a corner, which wasn't given.
The balance of play was always comfortably on Amiga's side, and Swiss youngster Alain Cavalluci made his mark in the 31st minute after
Lim Chuan Heng had been drawn out of position by a dummy run from Tarski. Cavalluci sped, totally free, into the penalty area, and toe-poked Dangl's pass straight in at the near post.
Grilled then made a couple of decent attacks that led to some in the crowd to believe that they were turning it around, until target man Hubert Fornalski made it three-nil thanks to some inexperienced defending from
Chan Woon Jin on the flank. Tarski suffered a knock seconds before the half-time whistle went, and Amiga coach Walery Szawłowski took the opportunity to introduce first-teamer Maciej Kitala.
It didn't seem as if the substitutions of Salieri and Torsson would make much of a difference going into the second half, but as with Le Petit Prince, they had a certain impact.
Edvaldo Mourão, whose form has slowly but surely been recovering, had Grilled's best opportunity of the match up till then as he faced down Zenon Niemczyński with nobody between them, but his flat lob went slightly over.
Bjarne Hagen then struck Amiga's fourth goal due to a lapse in concentration by Mohd Firdaus, but Grilled were on the upsurge by then. It all came to fruition when
Feng Darong made a darting run down his flank in the 77th minute, and delivered a short cross that Torsson somehow glanced in off the far post to send the crowd into a chorus of cheers.
Amiga threatened again with a nice effort by Trzepacz kept out by Silvera, but Grilled weren't done with their fightback and kept giving the ball to Darong, who was finally consistently getting the better of Czarek Holak down the right. Darong booted in a dangerous inswinger in the 84th minute that Simões met at full stretch. Niemczyński blocked it reflexively, but only to
Chan Woon Jin, who had the easiest of jobs sweeping the ball into an unguarded net.
