Another Club Gone
Over fifty thousand paying fans turned up to watch the Grilled players run out against Tinombala, who brought just Azrul Amri bin Hassan and Ng Dong An as their representatives.
The Clementi side had enjoyed a long and storied history, and was known as Orchard Islandsers, chomp chomp, Quantum Chaos and Green_Plan21 before its current incarnation. Tinombala then began a slow but steady rise from the fourth division to the second, and were close to the S-League with a second-placed finish in II.3 a couple of seasons ago.
While Grilled have not had an especially close shared history with the club, with each side getting a win and two draws from their four meetings, all in II.3, many of the Grilled players still expressed sadness at seeing yet another Singaporean club bite the dust. There may however be a lifeline for Tinombala, as they are said to be in talks with a consortium over rebranding themselves as Warpstar United.
