GeostarZ Rocked
Three Score Firsts

Grilled got their stuttering season back on track with a convincing thumping of GeoStarZ United FC, as half the outfield players saw their name go up in lights. The visitors were slated to make it difficult, as they had just crushed seluraralc 6-0 in their last league match, but were strangely subdued against Grilled.
The opening exchanges were concentrated in the middle of the pitch, and neither side had much luck battering their way through until the 17th minute, when the hosts tried a different tack; They gave the ball to Penati, who had been finding his way down the left side for a change, and after a couple of failed attempts the speedy Italian outpaced everyone on a direct run cutting in, and put the ball past Dutch goalie Arie Ottens.

Rotteveel beat his countryman with a precise strike eight minutes on, but then GeostarZ had their best stretch of the game, and might well have overturned the lead had Valdir not been on top form. Even then, he could not prevent Siegmar Sadlo, who notched the winner the last time the sides met, from converting a fine cross by the Lithuanian U-20 star, Kornelijus Kiškariovas.

A nervy ending to the half was made far less so by Subri bin Ku Zainol, though, as the Malaysian forward combined well with Penati to construct a great chance for himself. The two showcased an uncanny understanding as Penati hit a no-look pass with his back to goal right into Subri's path, and Subri did it justice with an elegant touch that took the ball safely away from Ottens, rolling it in simply with his other foot.

Ciro Penati had a field day after his switching of flanks, as the attack-minded 30 year-old Henrik Knudsen found it hard to stay with him. Branbilla was the next recepient of Penati's abundant footballing gifts, sweeping the ball past Ottens first time after a tricky cut-back. Spirig then closed the game thanks to Han Kok moonlighting on the right, though he might have considered himself fortunate after seeing the ball come off his knee and between Ottens' legs.

With the points guaranteed, Spirig was soon taken off for the eager MacKinnon. The Scotsman had a go from the corner of the area after the keeper had been forced out of position, but the effort was quite laughable as it ended up in the upper tier of the stadium. Being four goals up already helped the fans to see the funny side, however, and a small section even gave MacKinnon a standing ovation, and only half-sarcastically at that.

Grilled's forwards, who had both gotten a goal, would both collect a yellow card as well after some stupid challenges. Rotteveel will now have to sit out the midweek Cup game, and perhaps watch Subri improve on their currently identical goal records of ten each in the Cup and three each in the league.
