Grilled Birds swung from one extreme to another on the opening day of the latest Supporter Week Trophy tournament, recording two wins and two losses, both by a margin of at least four goals.

Freshly-inaugurated and newly-promoted Hungarian fifth division club Józska Barát! were first up, and from the looks of their 1-7 hammering, they may be in for a rough ride next season. Egyptian Division Three favourites benerpon then put the shoe on the other foot, as they hit six without reply past Grilled in their next fixture, led by Swiss central midfielder Jean-Pierre Nyberg. It was left to Vikram Mudaliar to salvage some pride, with a solo effort after that.

Another high followed as the Birds then demolished Spanish Division Six side Kastell de Kabres K.F. by five goals to one, allowing only the diligent Constantino Sorrilha to wrest a consolation. Again, however, Grilled were on the receiving end next, with the Polish-affiliated Brunei B-League club Płaskie Glonojady smashing them 6-0, with the Birds never recovering after the third goal came just twenty-odd minutes in.

Captain Moey Xin Seng, who had to watch on frustrated as he sat on the sidelines as a precaution against aggravating a recent injury, didn't have much patience for that last performance. "I'm disgusted, really, and every one of us out there should be too. There was no fight shown."

The scorelines were rather less pronounced for Farmer Bunnies, who began by beating Italian sixth division challenger The Doctor 46 F.C. 3-1, though they only pulled clear after 80 minutes through strikes by Ibrahim Zahran Al-Maashany and Jon Benson. Former Pakistani cupwinners FC sugus3002 then edged them 3-2, with Mark Albutt firing a world-class winner from over thirty yards, that left Vivian Grubenmann grasping at thin air.

Two two-nil wins then followed, the first against Hokkaido-based FC FairyTail, and the next against Austrian fifth division 1. FC Götterfunken. Wong Ting Yew was pivotal in both matches, contributing crucial second-half goals to kill off the contests.

Grilled International began with a battling 4-4 draw against Armenian Third Division club MLKS Unia Bełżyce, with Bełżyce giving a good account of themselves despite their Swedish winger Holger Andreasson being dismissed in the 33rd minute, for an unprovoked shove on Osertz Indurain. A fine 7-2 victory over Chile-based Hattrick International side Llanquihue Gothers followed, in which International made up for indifferent finishing, with sheer volume of shots.

A painful 0-7 whitewash against established Belgian fourth division club FC Castles then followed, in which Soo Kiong Yau and Osertz Indurain were booked as they tried vainly to contain their opponents. Talismanic centre-forward Freek-Jan Scheres was irresistable, bagging three. It got a bit better against Greek fifth division side Zeus AC, with Abdul Hamid bin Hj Ali Timbang's hard work paying off with two late goals, although they still lost 3-6.

There was even time for Grilled International to visit Denmark to play L"ego somewhere in between all that, and they duly crashed 1-8 in that Cars & Girls Cup 36 fixture. Effectively out of contention after two straight losses, International's only mission would be to gain some redemption against FC Scrub Club in their final group fixture.
