Singapore 3 - 2 Grilled

e to an all-day shower, 53203 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at The Dome Of The White Lion. Vladimir Vitrih was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Domingos Gomes and Nick Fohn. Singapore tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Heng Meng - Kok-Peng, Shiu-Fai, Khoi-Khoa - Tegelberg, Son-Bao, bin Manaf, Wenghae, Noor Yadah - Rodostoglou, bin Md Johadi.

Grilled decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Abed-Sulaiman - Zywczyn, Fredgård, Bona - Jie Siong, Han Kok, Kek-Tjiang, Paullin, Spirig - Martinsson, Simon.

Grilled used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 25 minutes allowed Anders Fredgård to score the 0 - 1 goal for Grilled. It was a bad day for the usually speedy Quah Han Kok. The mud seemed to slow him down. 33 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 2 as Anders Fredgård finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Grilled's Dimitri Simon was shown a yellow card after 35 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Unfortunately for Singapore, Syamsul bin Md Johadi was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. Mohd Satar bin Mohamed replaced him. A marvellous Singapore effort on the right-hand side resulted in a goal after 37 minutes by Mohd Satar bin Mohamed, making the score 1 - 2. At this time in the match, Grilled were using their skill at pressing to successfully put pressure on their opponents. 1 - 2 was the halftime score. Singapore held the ball, with a clear 58 percent of possession.

Grilled's talent at pressing frustrated their opponents. Vaios Rodostoglou pulled a real crowd pleaser as he, after 54 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 2 - 2 equaliser away. With 55 minutes played, Singapore's Mohd Satar bin Mohamed fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Mohd Satar bin Mohamed for diving. After 62 minutes, Aznan Noor Yadah came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to put away the 3 - 2 goal, giving Singapore the lead. There was concern in the stands when, at the 62 minute mark, Singapore's Li Heng Meng hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. Jue Shiu-Fai should probably have put his team up another goal after 78 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman kept the visitors in the game. Singapore claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.

Singapore's top performer was clearly Jue Shiu-Fai. Mohd Satar bin Mohamed turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Grilled player was Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman. Lee Jie Siong turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 2.
