17 year-old Rancher Rabbits defender Hayden Clemence left for Geylang's Joker 9B on a free transfer effective today, and the affable blond Eurasian is already being missed around the academy grounds.
"He's an old-school, no-nonsense sort of centreback, you won't find him trying to take the ball up himself or any of that stuff, but he sticks to his man, puts himself into tackles, generally makes life hard for strikers." Rabbits scout Tong Han Kong described.
"What he brings extra to the table is genuine leadership, the kind that manifests both on and off the pitch." Tong continued. "It's evident that the other boys all look up to him, and not only because he's tall - he actually cares, you can sense that."
Hayden seemed embarassed at that, but recovered quickly when asked to give his thoughts. "Honestly, I'd have loved to stay on - so many of my personal heroes are at the Bunnies, you know - but the training focus simply didn't work out. The coaches have assured me that Joker are a very good, very established club with a reputation for developing their players, however, and as a bonus I can always pop back now and then."
