Fong Finds Bettona
Days after Peter Nguyen's wait ended, a second academy hopeful got his break too, as Chicken Wings graduate Fong Kang Jie snagged a free transfer to French Sixth Division club Bettona. Having worked the club up the league system over the years, head coach Edmundo Iduya has instigated a restructuring process, and Fong is one of nine youngsters he recruited this day.
A winger who made eighteen starts at youth level, Fong has been tried at fullback too, and scout Lim Hock Puay gave him a good recommendation. "Fong is hardworking and inventive, always has been. As long as he gets games, I can see him rising up the ranks."
